Yes, I know when I pick up one of his books I am unlikely to get any unpleasant surprises. Marston has a too-rare talent for turning out high quality pulp that manages to avoid the common failings of pulp, in particular the easy recourse to annoying stereotypes. His books are wonderful for the times when I want something that isn't too taxing but still has enough to engage my interest rather than assuming I'm an idiot.
