October 2008 book log

Wanted to write up at least one review to link to before posting this, but I'm too tired. (I think the flu jab and subsequent ouch have drained me a bit.)

Treeware: Doctor Who and the Hand of Fear - novelisation by Terrance Dicks. Plus a re-read of the Torchwood second season tie-in novel "Trace Memory".

Cybook: The Night Life of the Gods by Thorne Smith.
Started a collection of shorts by F Scott Fitzgerald, but found them unappealing -- I think me more than the book, because that was when I was starting a bad cold, which led to a couple of weeks of not being interested in reading on the bus.
Persuasion, by Jane Austen -- switched to this when I started reading on the bus again.

Other: beta-reading a draft manuscript as part of a friend's crit group. As ever, a slightly strange reading experience, because it was enormous fun to read, but I did also have to focus on stuff like whether the plot hung together, and small but annoying glitches.

I probably ought to start a DVD log as well, because there were a couple of serious DVD-watching items -- not least kalypso_v and I finishing our viewing of Star Maidens. I've got a half written review around here somewhere that I should finish.

And given the number of typos in this post, I should go to bed now and get some sleep.
