February book log

February books:

Charles Stross -- Toast

Actually read this before OMW, but my brain turns to mush every time I try to write a coherent review. Probably because my brain was mush when I was reading it. Anthology of some of Charlie's early shorts; well worth reading even though some have aged better than others, and some require a certain amount of geeky inside knowledge of one sort or another to really enjoy them (including in one case prior familiarity with Very Famous Old SF Short Story). Some very shiny ideas, well fleshed out. I don't regret paying trade paperback cover price for this.

John Scalzi -- Old Man's War

Reviewed a few days ago.

John Mortimor -- The Trials of Rumpole

Been reading this on and off over the month, still not finished. Half a dozen enjoyable short stories about the cynical and irreverent defence lawyer.
