Re the losing of position; try the newest firmware. That solved the problem for me.

FWIW, I found that tightening the screws in the Cybook definitely helped "solidify" the case and make it more rigid. I _don't_ use any protection; it either goes in my bag or my coat pocket and is otherwise "naked".
