Yes, I enjoyed that as well, for the same reasons. All of the Heyer mysteries I've read so far have given me the impression that she's very gently satirising some of the stock characters of fiction at the time, but I love the way Vicky plays with roles, and then starts deliberately using them as a means of protecting her mother from what she sees as a bad influence.
