Just finished watching the DVD of Robot, Tom Baker's first outing as Doctor Who. Yes, it's nearly forty years old and it shows, in the pacing as well as the special effects. But it's a fine story with some lovely performances. A good way to spend a couple of hours honouring the memory of the late, great Lis Sladen and Nick Courtney.

Ah, I bought that for my nephew's fifth birthday the other week, on the very sound basis that I watched it when I was five. I know what you mean - it's a lovely story, well paced, well told, and yes - great acting too. I've got a soft spot for Patricia Maynard's wonderful turn as Miss Winters. But yes, a great tribute to Lis and Nick, and Ian too.

It's hard to believe that it's twenty-five years this October since we lost Ian Marter. At least with Nick Courtney there was the feeling that he'd had a good innings.

I'd had it on my Amazon wishlist for a while, as it's one of my favourite stories. A couple of weeks ago seemed like a good time to go ahead and order it.
