snow

I thought it was cold last night... Patches of white in the garden this morning from the first snow of the winter. Only patches on the bare soil in the flowerbed, and most of it had melted, although next door's lawn still had a dusting of white.

I missed it, but some of the late arrivals to the quiz reported snow, hail and sleet. By the time we got out, all we could see was traces of snow round the edges of the car windows.

When I woke up this morning and heard all the radio reports, I peered out expecting the worst. Not a flake, presumably whatever fell as snow overnight melted rapidly. TBH it didn't feel particularly cold on the way to the shops just now.

No snow here yet, but we did have a heavy hailstorm around lunchtime. I had to rush out and bring in the washing that until then had been drying very nicely in the strong wind.

It was cold last night, though the white that was halfway up the car windscreen at 04.30 when the Saints had finished wiping the Superdome floor with the Lions was more likely hail than snow, going by the sound against the windows. By the time I emerged later, it had gone, though we had more hail this pm in Wells. Yup, December. Currently 4C outside.
