book log: 77) Jean Plaidy - The Shadow of the Pomegranate

Historical novel about Katherine of Aragon, first wife of Henry the Eighth. I abandoned it after 25 pages -- I think it's well written, and I would probably have enjoyed it a lot when I was a teenager, but it simply didn't hold my interest enough to keep reading it when I have a two year TBR mountain.

My late mother enjoyed reading historical fiction, and loved the books of Jean Plaidy. For many years I would buy her the latest one as part of her Christmas and birthday presents. When Ms Plaidy eventually died (in 1993, Wikipedia tells me) I had to find historical novels by other writers for her, with in the last few years before my mother's death Philippa Gregory becoming a favourite.
