Oh bugger...

This is probably going to be Torchwood's version of the 1996 Who telemovie, isn't it?

I want my cracky little show back, or even Children of Earth, not some bland internationalised version that takes out what made it special.

Some of us liked the Whovie quite a lot.

Sounds depressingly familiar.... and not just for drama (the US ideas on Top Gear, anyone?)

Could be worse. Could be Peter Cushing playing Jack.

Well, Cushing has died, which might be seen as a relevant qualification for the part.

You don't know jack

We still got Gwen, we still got Jack. Could still be quite good.

Or Ianto or Tosh. I wonder what pretext they are going to come up with for bringing Captain Jack back. I'll hazard a guess that this time Rhys might be a full member of the team.

But then they'd need to hire a nanny! Actually, I suppose trying to conceal the nature of their work from the nanny could be amusing, but I think if one Torchwood salary is good enough Rhys would volunteer for househusband.

I agree. I don't want glossy - I liked the show when it was raw and sometimes embarrassing. Also they've killed off all three of the people I liked and kept the two that I didn't much care about. They're going to have to have some bloody good replacements to make it worth while watching again.

I'm certainly willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Jack and Gwen were my favourite characters anyway. My first reaction was that making it international instead of Cardiff-based might be a bad move - but then I remembered Daleks in Manhattan, It can be done (as long as they don't try to turn it into CSI). Even though Starz is involved it does seem to be BBC-led and having RTD and Julie Gardner involved should supply the continuity.

Bringing Jack back shouldn't be a problem. He was last seen in an offworld bar drinking with Midshipman Frame. He just needs to get a lift back with a passing alien out do do a few crop circles to tease the natives.

I dunno, this still has RTD and Julie in charge. There's one American mentioned in the entire article, and he doesn't seem to be involved on the creative side. I'm fairly hopeful.

Only fair to give it a chance, I reckon, but I admit, I'm a little trepidacious.
