Just checked the LibraryThing entry for The Syndicate volume 1, to see if I need to/can update the "other authors" field so that it shows Alex -- and discovered that it now has the following lines:

DDC/MDS 813
Literature > American > Fiction

To which I can only say... WhiskyTangoFoxtrot? Are we defining it by the publisher now? Because I am not American, and nor is my co-author. The characters aren't American, either. Really, they're not.

I suppose it probably is being defined by the fact that it has a US publisher, and thus possibly a Library of Congress catalogue (sorry, catalog) number, but I am still bemused.

I'm guessing it's in green, and thus autogenerated (and more likely to be wrong)?

Seems a strange way to define things, though I suppose if there's a foreign language translation of a US or UK title, there's not much point in classifying it as US/UK rather than the language it's actually translated into. Not so much country of origin then, but country of consumption. ;)
