So now that I have accumulated some spoons and help re: self-publishing my out of print titles,  I should do something about tidying up my website and social media profiles. Not least because so many of them have references to a now-defunct publisher...

I was somewhat embarrassed to find that I've still done essentially zero of that on my primary website. I really should have edited the bibliography pages on the original hand-coded website. All I've done is with put up a couple of brief "he's dead, Jim" posts on the shiny new WordPress edition that currently consists primarily of announcement posts and a link back to the old site. This is why I asked for link-checking on the new editions, and am very grateful for the responses here and on Twitter. I'm going to impose on you lovely people again as I work my way through updating the website.

One of the things I need to do is take down the old cover art, because technically I don't have the right to use that any more, not even as thumbnails for reference so people can see if something looks familiar. I'd really rather not; I don't like finding myself buying a reprint of something I've already got because it has a new and unfamiliar cover, and I'd rather not annoy potential customers by doing the same to them. However, I suspect long term I may better off without them on the site even as thumbnails, lest they confuse people who go looking for something with the old cover art when they intended to buy the new edition. And then there are the ones on my DreamWidth/LiveJournal profile, which I have just looked at for the first time in months. Oops.

Nice Tie is currently scheduled for release in next week's batch of new books from Loose Id. This is subject to the usual caveats about problems in getting the formatted ebook files onto a working server, but you should be able to get your hands on the book on Tuesday. Herewith the blurb and buy link -- excerpt to follow as soon as the approved excerpt is available.

Nice Tie

Nice Tie cover art -- gay romance novel Alex Hall likes watching good-looking men doing up good-looking ties, a kink he can safely indulge on his morning commute as long as he’s discreet. At least until the day he meets new client Robin Wood, whose face seems oddly familiar. Embarrassingly familiar, when Robin recognizes him as “that guy on the bus.”

Lusting after the client and his tie is a really bad idea. Acting on it would be even worse. Which doesn’t stop Alex’s impulsive suggestion when he realizes that Robin's as intrigued as he is awkward. They’re both grown-ups, they can handle the conflict of interest, and if nothing else it will get the awkwardness out of the way. And there’s a cheap hotel at the end of their bus route.

Just one date. One night for Alex to enjoy watching beautiful hands managing a tie with style. One night for Robin with a man who can understand his own grooming kink, even if it’s not quite the same as Alex’s. One night, and then just good friends, while they’re working together. Nobody else’s business.

But Robin has entirely too much experience with romance at work, and the past isn’t staying past.

I received the cover art finals for First Footer last night - it's been tweaked very slightly from the draft based on a couple of comments I made, but is essentially the same artwork. It is very nice, and I will be sharing it with you once I've had a chance to upload it to my website. Alas, this may not be until the weekend now, as I expect to be connectivity-challenged for a few days. (Also, I do not do HTML coding via Dragon. :-)

I have just seen the draft cover art for the re-release of First Footer as a standalone title. I am not allowed to share it with you yet, as it's still in draft, but *I* like it. :-)

I'm blogging about cover art at the Erato_glbt blog today. Erato's the Musa imprint which published "And if I offered thee a bargain".

Of course, with exquisite timing they've changed their colour scheme this week to one that really doesn't suit Bargain's cover art as a background, somewhat negating the point I was making. :-) But it really is very difficult to set up cover art to suit any random webpage background.

Received the cover art for the new book last night. This is the one that I've been referring to as The Feast of Odin, but it's now reverted to what was originally the working title of Yule. It's a short story, part of a set that will be sold individually, but collectively will be known as The Festival of Lights. It's my first co-authored profic with someone other than [livejournal.com profile] predatrix, but [livejournal.com profile] lindsey_mullen is another writing friend I've known since way back from when I first got into fanfic. (And indeed could be said to be the person who got me into fanfic, so if you like my writing, you can thank her.) The page for the book went up on the Loose Id catalogue yesterday, but there's not much there but the ISBN at the moment, not even the cover art -- but you can see *that* below the cut here.

The art is by the wonderful April Martinez, who did the cover art for the whole set of Festival of Lights stories -- you can see some of her earlier work for Loose Id at her website.

A Kiss At Midnight, a New Year's Eve themed ebook anthology of m/m romance, is now in the Loose Id catalogue. This is the one with my novella First Footer. More details plus cover and links to excerpts here.

The cover art and short blurb for Spindrift 2: Ship to Shore are now up in the Coming Soon section of the Loose Id website. I'll be putting up a page on my website, complete with excerpt, as soon as I can get ftp access. (My net access has been somewhat restricted for the last couple of weeks, which is why the LJ has been updated but the website hasn't.) In the meantime, here's the short blurb and link to the cover art.

Human novelist Richard found love with the silkie Niall. When an attack leaves Niall's sister critically injured, the two must work together to save her... and keep the secrets of the silkies.

I do love the cover art I've had at Loose Id. :-)

Spindrift is now listed on the Coming Soon page at Loose Id. You can see the cover art at the book's page in the catalogue, or on my website.

Short blurb:

Richard finds the truth in legend, when
he finds a silkie bereft of his skin and
in need of a home. He'll help Niall find
his skin, without taking advantage--no
matter how much it hurts to let him go...

The cover art for my new novella Mindscan (currently in editing, probable release in Spring) is now up on the Loose Id website, although there's no blurb yet.

The page layout for my website is changing. There were a lot of internal page navigation links and section labels that were normally hidden in a CSS browser but displayed in a text-only browser, something which allowed me to provide useful extra navigation options for people using certain accessibility browsers without cluttering up the display for the majority of browsers that didn't need those links and labels. Google is now penalising sites that use invisible text, which probably explains why my site now appears at the bottom rather than the top of certain search results. So I'm taking those links and labels out. Able-bodied text browser users will probably thank me for a better-looking page. My apologies to anyone who actually found them useful. They'll be gradually disappearing as I update pages.

The cover art for Polyiterophilia is now up on the Loose Id website. No blurb as yet, but at least everyone else can now drool over the art.
