My set of "Steve Jackson's Sorcery!" has just emerged from the boxes. There goes my spare time for the next few weeks, at least once I find a couple of D6s. Now, there should be a "Warlock of Firetop Mountain" around here somewhere as well...

The kids and I loved those Steve Jackson choose your own adventure books. They were great fun.

I loved them when I was a teenager, even though I never really got into gaming. In some ways they were very good for kids like me who could see what a timesink RPGs could be, and didn't want to invest that much time into gaming, but still liked the games. The Sorcery set was particularly good.

Never mind - I hit "make a comment" on what I thought was sugoll's journal, but evidently the friends page was still expanding as I did so.

The next question being can I be arsed writing that recipe out again for him...

Sorcery was the series with the optional spellbook, wasn't it? And all the spells had three letter names like ZAP!

That's all I remember of my time as a casual roleplayer: Sorcery, skimming the Fighting Fantasy RPG, and getting very confused by the fact SJGames wasn't that Steve Jackson...

I haven't actually opened them yet, but yes, that's what I remember. I have the boxed set with volume 1 and the spellbook.
