My set of "Steve Jackson's Sorcery!" has just emerged from the boxes. There goes my spare time for the next few weeks, at least once I find a couple of D6s. Now, there should be a "Warlock of Firetop Mountain" around here somewhere as well...
I loved them when I was a teenager, even though I never really got into gaming. In some ways they were very good for kids like me who could see what a timesink RPGs could be, and didn't want to invest that much time into gaming, but still liked the games. The Sorcery set was particularly good.
Sorcery was the series with the optional spellbook, wasn't it? And all the spells had three letter names like ZAP!
That's all I remember of my time as a casual roleplayer: Sorcery, skimming the Fighting Fantasy RPG, and getting very confused by the fact SJGames wasn't that Steve Jackson...
