For the Folio Society lovers who don't already have a copy of Folio 50, there are currently 3 on eBay UK under twenty quid.

There are other Folio Society books on eBay I am tempted by, but as I am currently entering the latest batch of the TBR mountain and know how many months high that mountain is, I am resisting.

And this morning's LibraryThinging was entering the individual books from my recently purchased audiobook boxset "The Best of Hercule Poirot and other stories". 12 Poirot novels and four other novels, each abridged on 3 CDs, and currently available from The Book People for 30 pounds. There also appear to be a few third party copies on Amazon around that price, but no copies direct from Amazon any more, so I'm assuming it's been recently remaindered and is on "remaining stock only" at that price. Might be worth grabbing if you like audiobooks and Christie.

Having listened to all 3 now, yes, I liked overall, although I thought the first one was a mess continuity-wise and could have done with some editing by someone who remembers series 1. (Note to writers: the Hub has its own generators. This was a significant plot point in more than one Series 1 episode.) Barrowman has finally discovered how to act for plays on the radiogram, which is a good thing considering the concentrated joy for Jack/Ianto fans which James Goss provided in his script for the third play. I was already pretty partial to Goss's writing for audio, but that seals it for me, even if I have some major nitpicks continuity-wise with this one as well. Goss is autobuy status, methinks. I just wish I hadn't manage to accidentally spoiler myself for the third one by looking up something else Torchwood-related.

Okay, pretty sure I've now got a "follower" on G+ who has added me to their circles for the sole purpose of getting me to read their profile and thus run off and buy their book/course/whatever. There have been a couple of earlier ones I was suspicious of, but this one I can see absolutely no connection whatsoever other than them working their way through a chain of authors and adding them in hopes of selling author promotion services.

I'm surprised it's taken this long.

"Yesterday" has been banging on today about starting a re-run of Taggart from the very beginning from next Saturday. This clashes unpleasantly with Doctor Who, which means I really ought to get around to buying some means of recording what's on the telly. Unfortunately technology has moved on in the decade since I owned or really cared about having a VCR, and I'm not entirely certain what is needed in the bright new future of 100 digital channels and nothing worth watching most nights but repeats on ITV3. I presume I want a hard drive recorder that can burn to DVD, but I should really have done some research before now...
