I note that my first Psion 5 cost £400 +VAT when I bought it in 1999. Same as the N5 today, in numbers. Which might be a lot more in value (given the deflation in the computer biz over 13 years), or a lot less (given the inflation everywhere else).
But yeah, the "gets lifted from handbag" problem is significant. Although in my case it'll be either in a zipped/buttoned jacket pocket or a zippered backpack or similar. So it'd have to be a mugging rather than a casual pickpocket.
