Thanks to Stevie Carroll for the alert that this week is the centenary of the Women's Weekly, with a celebration issue that includes a replica of the very first issue. I sallied forth at lunchtime and now have my very own copy, to the bemusement of my colleagues. :-)

Heh. I used to write for Woman's Weekly, once upon a time.

Feels like it, sometimes. *pauses to count* Lawks. Thirty-some years, it is. A third of the magazine's lifetime ago.

A friend/colleague from Computer Weekly went off to be a sub on one of the IPC women's titles - can't remember now whether it was Woman, Woman's Own or Woman's Weekly. I remember she said quite interesting things about the trends in sex scenes in the short stories submitted by readers - bathroom sex was the big thing that year, apparently.

Hurrah! You got one. Most people have given up being bemused by me...
