progress of sorts on the manuscript
Nov. 20th, 2011 03:23 pmThe daily wordage has been not happening for the last ten days or so. This is not good. On the other hand, the reason it's not been happening for the last three days is that I'm spending a long weekend with Watervole, and we have been doing some fairly intensive ideas bouncing on our respective writing projects. I should probably scribble down some of today's discussion before I forget it, but it's nailed down some ways to tie different threads of my story together. I think I will be entirely justified in claiming some of the travel expenses as business expenses -- you can do some of this stuff over the phone, but it's not the same as waving your arms at each other, and bouncing when something gels as a concept, and running off to the bookshelf to look something up that might enhance the idea.
Also, the trip gave me the chance to go to a morris team practice session. This was something I originally thought of as being just "file it away because it will come in useful sooner or later to add colour to something", but it also generated an actual story idea, which will probably get turned into a short story in the near future if I can keep up the consistent wordage.
The morris session was where the Psion *really* came into its own. Small enough to fit in a handbag, boots instantly or reasonable approximation thereof, easy to pull it out to jot down a couple of notes to jog my memory later when I need it.
Next thing to do this weekend is to pull out an old short story, see if it needs any rewriting, wave it at Watervole for test reading, and then *submit* it somewhere. It's about time that one found an audience.
