still tidying my room
May. 28th, 2011 02:06 pmIt's a long job, tidying my room. :-( I'm slowly gaining ground, but dear god do I miss my four drawer filing cabinet. (There wasn't room for it. There really wasn't.) Stuff is piled all over the place because there is no sensible place to put it out of the way until I can get to it, other stuff is piled on the sofabed because I need to refer to those files while doing something else and what passes for a filing cabinet is in the next room along the corridor and too much trouble to be constantly shuffling files in and out of... At least I seem to have got past the stage where I couldn't put something else away until I'd put three other things away first so I could get to the place where it goes, and I couldn't put *those* things away until something else had been put away.
I really do need to have a purge on the books, because there would be less of an issue with the not-books stuff if there was a bit more room for boxfiles on the bookcase. A purge on the not-books stuff would also help, of course -- do I *really* need an inflatable platypus? (No, I am not making that up.:-) But what I need most of all is the mental energy to deal with the necessary decisions, and that's what's been in short supply for the last six months.
But it's bank holiday weekend, and I'm feeling awake enough to deal with paperwork *and* clutter. I think a box will be heading Oxfam's way on Monday. In the meantime, there will probably be another round of spamming the book log, as I deal with that particular pile of Stuff.
