Given comments in comments, it's probably once again time to point to the explanation of "cat-vacuuming" for the benefit of newish readers. This is actually a writing term which originated on an sf writer's group (originally in the form "cat-waxing". More details here:

The funny thing is that I contemplated doing this yesterday, and it had nothing to do with delaying unpleasant work. When my cat Leiber got into my lap and a couple of quick rubs on his chin made him look as if he was starting to smoke, it was time to get rid of the shed hair. Quite literally, I managed to gather a ball of cat hair within fifteen minutes that was nearly the size of a tennis ball, and that's not counting everything he left on the couch, the floor, and all over my clothes. I believe I used the term "cat felt" to describe the condition of my shirt when I was done, and it went straight into the wash.

Yeah... but I'd never get the vacuum cleaner within two metres of either cat.

A friend of mine has four cats with medium or long hair, and she's been saving all loose hair that comes off when she's brushing them.

I lent her a spinning wheel some years back, and she has now spun thread out of cat hair, turned it into 3-ply yarn, and made herself a nice warm scarf by naalbinding.
