I thought that the ebook of The Unorthodox Engineers was astonishingly cheap when I glommed onto it last weekend. On further wandering around the SF Gateway site, I discovered that that would be because SF Gateway is having a Christmas sale.

Lots and lots of lovely backlist back in print, or at least electrons, again, in that familiar yellow jacket, at sale prices -- my copy of The Unorthodox Engineers was 1.99. It is alas, DRMed, but one can't have everything. (I am also amused by the entry on DRM in the FAQ, which has a distinct air of "because Corporate said we had to" about it. :-) I think I may have to go shopping this weekend. From the blog post:

£2.99 eBooks reduced to £1.99!
£4.99 eBooks reduced to £2.99!
And many more!

I've just been to have a look and I must say I found their website a bit awkward to use. It's fine if you know what book(s) you want, but for browsing it seems more than a little unwieldy.

it's essentially a way to get stuff back into print.

Which is undoubtedly a Good Thing (™) :)

And, as I forgot to say in my previous comment, thank you for pointing it out - I shall go and have another look later on.

It might just be a personal thing - I like to see books ordered alphabetically by author and the iTunes style alphabetising by title irks me :)

I don't like the DRM

Me neither. It's like region-coding on DVDs. Bah.

I understand that some folk have devised ways around it though. Allegedly.

Yes.

They run a sale now, and around Easter time. I tend to buy in bulk, and then read throughout the year. :-)
