con going this year

I'm not going to many, if any, cons this year. Only one of the usual suspects is even possible at the moment.

Redemption - not going, because work and family commitments mean I simply don't have the time or the energy. Which makes me sad, because Redemption is my One True Con.

Eastercon - possibly ditto, but because it's over a bank holiday weekend, it's rather more feasible. There is a twin room booked, to be released or converted to single should self and/or sharer be unable to make it. Current travel plans are to go to con on Friday morning and home again Monday afternoon, should I go. Probably leaving earlier on Monday than I normally would, because I won't be able to take Tuesday as leave in order to recover.

UK Meet - would like to go assuming no family/work commitments, but it's limited ticket and sold out ages ago. I won't know for a while whether it's even practical to put myself on the waitlist.

Which means that as usual, this may be the year I finally get to Novacon, but probably won't be...

Sorry you're not coming to Redemption - that's the only one I'm actually going to make this year.

I really regretted it, because it's my only chance to see some of my friends this year, but I can't take time off work for the next four or five months, and I don't have the stamina any more to do Friday night to Sunday night without any time off to recover. Especially as there are Engineering Works on the railway network that weekend. :-(

Eastercon is the one con (apart from DWCon) I keep vaguely intending to go to, but can't since my reenactment society usually has its national training weekend at Easter. As a group trainer, I usually have recruits to put forward for various assessments, and training-to-improve-as-a-trainer to attend to myself. One of these years...

That's the problem with Easter as the annual get together in meatspace - various overlapping fandoms use it, so there's going to be a clash for some people.

My Redemption is looking less likely than usual, because of multiple clashes, which is disappointing. Otoh, I think the venue has had its day, and I'll mind missing this one less, if the next one might be somewhere better.

I'll definitely be at Eastercon, with the whole being-on-the-committee thing.

I was actually booked for Novacon last year, and was disappointed not to be able to make it. I'm going to try again this year, I think. The length and the time of year combine to make it relatively manageable in terms of time and energy, and I did enjoy my first time there, in 2013.

I'm sorry to miss Redemption, even if the venue doesn't annoy me to the same extent it does many others. But at least I'll probably get to see you at Eastercon.

I should be at all three of those, but am also local to you now so I'm sure we'll manage to meet up soon, even if you make it to none of them (which would be a great shame of course).

I've registered for EasterCon, but not yet booked a room. Not sure yet if I'll make it. I need to go back to work before then and working Easter weekend may be advantageous if I get the opportunity. :(

Rats. Maybe we'll at least get the chance to meet up some weekend when I'm in the South-Wet. Preferably when it's not actually wet. :-)
