Well, there's a surprise...
Sep. 19th, 2005 09:54 pmDon't faint... I indulged in meme sheepage.
I'm not putting the graphic here, because it sears my eyes. But apparently I would be a Democrat if I were a US voter.
You are a Social Liberal (63% permissive) and an... Economic Liberal (28% permissive)
You are best described as a: Democrat
You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness. loc: (49, -82)
modscore: (17, 38)
raw: (2135)
This is not a huge surprise, since my politics are more or less One Nation Tory, or in other words by UK standards I'm a right-wing liberal. Of course, I do know Americans who would consider this proof that I'm a GodlessCommie(TM) :-)

Date: 2005-09-20 03:43 am (UTC)http://www.politicalcompass.org/ has some interesting data on the shift in party positions over the years. Take a look at the graphs at the bottom of the page on the UK 2005 election results:

The LibDems haven't moved at all, but they *appear* to have moved left and liberal because both the Tories and Labour have moved right and authoritarian.

Date: 2005-09-20 04:09 am (UTC)* The two main parties are extremely similar because they're both chasing the same group of voters.
* People don't vote for the third party because they expect it to lose (a self-fulfilling prophesy).
* Vast numbers of people are so disillusioned with the process that they don't bother to vote at all.
