Where do *you* get your story ideas from?

I'm not sure who should be more worried about this, james_nicoll or my characters, but I've just been reading an old LJ post of his that made me think that I should go and put an extra scene in an earlier chapter just by way of pointing out that two of my characters haven't quite got the hang of this "of course we're perfectly normal humans, what makes you think we're shapeshifters!" lark yet.

Yup. And my dolphin lads
a) have very little experience with cooking (cooked food yes, doing the cooking no),
b) think of clothing as something they put on for special purposes.

Their human boyfriend may have to point out to them that frying bacon in the nude is not a good idea.

I've never had a problem with bacon--just use a long fork! "very little expericence cooking", however, would explain their difficulty. (I'm always puzzled by the things non-nudists think are problems.)

Yes, it's not realising that frying bacon can spit that's the problem. And since they do have clothes that they already use as protective clothing, and don't have much in the way of cooking equipment, putting on a pair of jeans would be a good idea.
