Note to self -- the world does not need you to write fic about Ianto in a wedding dress. There will undoubtedly be plenty of other people willing to do that. Get on with your own May-December romance, before your betas kill you.
No Ianto in a wedding dress? Chiz, chiz, chiz! How about pregnant Ianto in a wedding dress? Maybe not.
Of course I had to see the episode on Gwen and Rhys's wedding just 5 days after my own daughter announced her engagement. I tell you, that Torchwood did nothing for my Old Man's nerves!
Am I evil because I want to be Nerys Hughes as a ravenous alien mother-in-law....?
My thought on waking up this morning was that Ianto looks good in a suit, and Jack has canonically been pregnant (if determined never to do that again), and thus the maternity wedding dress would be perfect on Jack. (I have had further thoughts during the day about what Ianto would do if Jack was actually insensitive enough to suggest wearing said dress after it was discarded by Gwen in favour of her original one.)
Rather unfortunate timing. :-) And yes, you are evil, and wouldn't it be fun?
Well, you know, I'd always be happy to step in if your usual betas become unruly. :)
I finally got curious after reading about it on your blog and elsewhere and watched part of an episode of Torchwood when I flipped upon it a few days ago. I have to admit to a certain amount of bafflement still, about the fascination with Jack (and that discussion of him being omnisexual at the Loose ID community). Maybe this episode wasn't obvious? Or maybe I'm just not getting it...
Anyway, feel free to chuck those other betas in my favor. I promise to read the wedding dress Ianto scene as well as the May-December ones. :)
Jack's got a somewhat complicated story arc, but is basically a semi-bad boy made good by the love of a good Doctor. Or being completely ignored in that way by a good Doctor, to be more accurate... It probably takes several episodes for him to grow on you, whatever point you see him at.
The character is canonically bisexual or omnisexual, something that's established in his first appearance in the main Who show. Having a handsome action hero canonically bi made for an awful lot of wet knickers in slash fandom, and the slow development of the Jack/Ianto plotline in the first series of Torchwood dampened them all over again.
He's not always a pleasant person -- he's utterly ruthless when he needs to be, partly because he's a space and time traveller who's seen what's out there and how dangerous it is, and will stop at nothing to protect the planet/time he's adopted as home. He can be incredibly selfish, and he's an alpha male jerk. He's also trying to learn how to be a good guy, so even though he's a jerk sometimes he's attractive because he's striving to improve himself.
