There is white stuff out there this morning, looking remarkably pretty in the bright sunshine under a clear blue sky. I think this is the first time I've seen lying snow here; it's been mostly a mild winter so far, though we've had a number of hard frosts and the occasional hailstorm.

Actually a local TV commercial made fun of this fact, though it was Scottish rather than English. Two little old ladies with Scottish accents started talking about haggis all the things that go into it. "Oooo, you're making me sick." "More ingredients." "Ah, but you can't get a proper haggis in America." Then they go to the phone book and find exactly what they want. They go out and apparently enjoy a haggis dinner. When they leave it is sunny out and one makes the comment, "Now if it would just rain." Far too sunny and extreme weather here to ever mistake it for any part of the Isles.
