Goodreads addressbook spamming again?

I've just had a Goodreads invitation from someone who will have that particular email address in her address book but whom I doubt would intentionally invite me to be her friend on Goodreads. From which I conclude that Goodreads is probably still tricking people into sending invites to their entire address book as a way of building market share. :-/

Well, darn. Thanks for the warning. I've been playing with the idea of joining one of the book communities lately, and I wasn't aware of this little... issue... with Goodreads, until I did some googling around.

They'd looked promising, on first brush.

I joined LibraryThing some years ago, because they did exactly what I wanted (as in, serious bibliophile catalogue with nit-picking edition data rather than just titles), and because they were almost the first. They *also* are spam-hostile, to the point where it's not all that easy to send an invite to a friend even manually.

Goodreads has never been as anti-social as Shelfari, and I really thought they'd mended their ways on the spamming.
