The first episode of the Survivors remake, on the 45th anniversary of Dr Who. Yes, I know Nation wasn't part of the Who founding team, but I think there's some truth in the idea that without the Daleks the series wouldn't still be around 45 years later (if with a rather extended hiatus between seasons 26 and 27). I should round off with one of the Blake's 7 DVDs, but it's getting a bit late and I should go to bed.

I really liked the original Survivors - and the two books - the second of which diverged from the TV series completely and followed Abby Grant's son as he grew up in the new world.

I do believe I heard that they're using the books as a basis for this new incarnation of Survivors because they don't have the rights to the non-Terry Nation stuff from the original (Nation left after the first season IIRC due to differences in artistic vision).

So I'm hoping for good things. This evening was a decent start.

I wonder whether they thought having Freema Agyeman and Shaun Dingwall would bring in the Doctor Who fans... if so that little bit of bait-and-switch was poorly judged, especially having Freema as Jenny who, for anyone who remembers the original, was the one who survived out of that initial trio of flat-sharers.

AAah. I forgot that was on! I was watching Burn Notice on another side. Was it any good?
