7016 total length, so 516 words today, and it was like getting blood out of a stone. Let's see if I can keep this up during the week, or at least have another crack at it next weekend, because half the problem is that I haven't written for so long. If I can get back into writing regularly, even if it's only 250 words a day, it should start to flow more smoothly.

Go you on the progress! I definitely found that setting myself a low daily target meant that I got something down every day so far, and mostly far more than targt.

Plus the reworked 'Don't You Want Me, Baby?' may actually end up with the main pairing back together.

I learnt the "300 words per day" thing from Terry Pratchett years ago, when he was still posting regularly on alt.fan.pratchett. I'm too tired to write tonight, but that's only because I worked more than an hour over my required hours today (I'm on flexitime) without noticing -- which is good, because although I'm tired now, I couldn't have done that a week ago. I think it would be more productive to go and do some reading tonight.

The conversation with you at Redemption certainly helped get my enthusiasm for the book up again, even if it was another couple of weeks before I was fit enough to tackle it. :-)

I hope you get somewhere with "Don't you want me, baby?", because I thought that very good in its original form. If you can manage to get it to 20 kwords and show the main pairing with at least a good chance fo being back together, it might suit Samhain very well.

And coolness with the publishing tip. I may end up hitting 30k at the rate I'm going, although it depends on whether the second and third segments end up as long as the first, and how much paring down I do after the first draft.
