Book log: Ally O'Brien -- The Agency
Mar. 31st, 2009 03:15 pmFinally finished one of my LTER books over the weekend. It's not the book's fault that it's taken me two months to get around to finishing it, as it had the misfortune to arrive a few days before I came down with a very nasty bout of tonsillitis. I found Ally O'Brien's The Agency enormous fun and think it will appeal to some, but not all, of my friends.
I'm not surprised that the reviews on LibraryThing range from loving the book to hating it. The plot is joyously over the top, and the lead character is often less than sympathetic and will probably grate on many people -- including me some of the time. But she does recognise her own flaws during the course of the book, and by the end I was wanting a second book to see what happened next. Since it's an LTER book I need to write a full review, which should appear sometime in the next few days.
