Sat down to catch up on iplayer, saw the first three minutes of day 1 before the it started stuttering and complaining about insufficient bandwidth. Resigned to watch it in the weekend, had a glance at my Twitter feed, and had the big shock spoilered.
Oh, well. Since I haven't formed an opinion about that character (like most of the new expected audience), I won't let that stop me enjoying it, but it was a bit of a bummer.
I thought it was clearly telegraphed from the first night, but wasn't sure if they'd actually go there or if it was a deliberate wind-up. However, the reason I thought it was telegraphed does rather rely on being familiar with a) the characters' behaviour in previous series, b) RTD having form on Being Really Obvious About Teaching Characters Emotional Lessons.
