Going with the alternative question from vilakins for 19, and doing 20 at the same time.

Avon

 

Favourite

The collared jacket in grey leather with panels and a front zip he wears in several episodes in the second half of series B and the beginning of series C. I'm also quite partial to the loose white cloth outfit he wears on the planet surface in shadow, and the black version in Voice from the Past. (There has to be some reason besides the plot to watch VftP, and that's one of the reasons.)

 

Unfavourite

The jacket with the ridiculous shoulder pads from Death-Watch. Why, dear god, why?

 

Blake

I actually like most of his outfits without a particular favourite. The one I don't like is the silver and white suits he and Avon wear on the planet surface in Hostage. It does not flatter either man.

 

Cally

 

I tend to go back and forth on Cally's outfits. The one I like best is probably the mottled green shirt from Mission to Destiny, but if you asked me on another day it could be something completely different. 

 

Most of the not-favourite outfits are just "meh" rather than active dislike, but the leopard skin coat from Bounty is well and truly "WTF?"

 

Dayna

 

Um... I may have mentioned that I am not that enamoured of Series C and D, and have not watched many episodes for a long time. I can't really visualise a lot of her outfits, even using the illustrated costume reference on hermit.org. Favourites are probably the grey and white V-panelled flightsuit she wore a lot in the first half of series D, and the grey flightsuit with gold trim she wore in the second half.

 

I really did not like that diagonal off the shoulder shift she wore in her first episode.

 

Gan

 

Favourite is the outfit with the billowing black floor length jacket/cloak in Redemption. There's nothing that's an unfavourite.

 

Jenna

 

Favourite is the black shirt with white dots to look like a star field, although the blue gown with starbursts on the shoulders is a close second. The red leather body suit is pretty nice as well. I like a lot of her outfits but the orange red one from Orac is the one I'd cheerfully lose if we had to drop one from the budget.

 

Servalan

 

Favourite is probably the white gown with a high beaded collar on her first appearance in Seek Locate Destroy.

 

Least favourite are the vulture outfit with a lot of big black feathers in Traitor and black gown with not as many big black feathers in Animals.

 

Soolin

 

Has very few costumes to choose from, so no strong feelings either way. I did like the grey/green flight suit with gold shoulders from Warlord enough to actually buy it from someone who had bought it at a BBC props and costumes disposal sale...

 

Tarrant

 

As with Dayna, I'm having trouble visualising a lot of his outfits because I haven't seen most of his episodes for a while, so it's a bit difficult to pick a favourite or unfavorite.

 

(And why has he raided Avon's wardrobe in Traitor for the black leather and studs across the shoulders outfit? It suits Avon better.)

 

Travis

 

The Travii don't have a lot of costumes between them, but I don't suppose it will be a surprise to anyone that the mummy costume with incredibly fake eyeball from Voice from the Past is not my favourite costume. Ah well, at least Avon sports two of my favourite eye candy outfits in that episode, so it all balances out.

 

Vila

 

Favourite's probably the patchwork jacket in panels of different colours he wears a lot in series A.

 

Vila also is not flattered by those silver and white things the boys get to wear on the surface in Hostage. The bug suit from Killer doesn't do him any favours either.

The silver and white suits worn on Exbar were not good on any of them. I call Avon's Death-Watch one the dark opera house.

Tarrant wearing Avon's old outfit is so weird: he teleports in something else, a Helotrix native is wearing the suit, then you see Tarrant in it. WTF?

I didn't realise there was a costume list on Hermit; I had to go through screencaps to remind myself of them. Any gold trim in S4 is a win; I'd forgotten those flight suits because I didn't bother looking. Have you worn yours?

I wore it a couple of times at cons years ago. I am not convinced I would fit into it now. :-)

Costumes do tend to be one of my areas of interest... I like Avon wearing the black again (or one very like it) in Terminal. And the red leather trousers, sans lobster top for a while at least, in Dawn of the Gods (one of the few things worth seeing in that one)

Oh, the custom fitted (*very* fitted) red leather trousers are very nice when he's taken off the lobster top and has just the clinging black top he wears underneath some of the jackets. It's just that he has so many lovely outfits to choose from, and that one didn't quite make it to the top of the list.
