A while back, there was this ripple of posts across sf blogland of posts that consisted of "Fred Pohl has a blog!", followed by comment threads consisting of variations on "squee!!!"

Not really a surprise then that he's just won this year's Hugo for Best Fanwriter. Not bad for a 90 year old. :-)

Nit bad at all. I suppose that he and Ray Bradbury must be about the last of the greats from the "golden age" of SF who are still with us.

I think that Jack Vance must only have come to the for comparatively late in life as, rightly or wrongly, he isn't someone who I associate with the Golden Age of the 1940s and 1950s.

Jack Vance got the rocket for best non-fiction book, his autobiography which is arguably also fan writing of a sort and he's four years older than Fred.
