wintry showers

The walk to the bus stop yesterday morning was crystalline clarity and sharp outlines. Today was still wintry, but a different mood altogether. A very light shower of fine snowflakes started just as I was about to leave, and by the time I got to the park entrance the air had been transformed to a soft pearly grey; the snowflakes too fine and few to much obscure the view across the park, but scattering back the light coming through the cloud so that the air itself seemed to glow with a faint light.

Tomorrow will doubtless be different again. The one thing I do know is that it will be cold. Time to go and put on the kettle for the hot water bottle to keep me warm in bed tonight.
