In pursuit of seeing what Google Docs looks like in the wake of Google+, I opened it up, and then opened up the last thing Alex and I were working on before her health fell off a cliff four years ago. Which is a rather sad thing, because it was a good story even if I say so myself, and if necessary I could probably finish the draft at novelette length by myself within a couple of months even around the day job if I wasn't currently at the bottom of a health-related cliff myself.
But it's weird seeing how many things have dated in the last four years. References to new Who that make it quite clear it's Tennant's first season. The story was strongly rooted in our mutual experience of Usenet culture, and has explicit references to Usenet -- this was just before I more or less stopped reading Usenet because the two groups I followed had finally succumbed to the tide of trolls. Someone who shows his geekness by having an ethernet port in his kitchen instead of a recipe book, when now it would be wifi. Only four years, and the world has moved on enough that I might have to tweak those bits.
