Tor/Forge to go DRM-free

julesjonesJohn Scalzi's just posted on his blog that Tor/Forge are to go DRM-free by July 2012. This is awesome news as far as I'm concerned, because I have a list of Tor books I want to buy for my Cybook. I think I will start with the Sector General books from the late and much lamented James White.

ETA: And here's Charlie Stross's public posting of his analysis-for-CEOs of why dumping DRM is a smart move for at least some imprints. Read this, if you don't understand why many authors and editors think that DRM is a cure worse than the disease.
