I've done very little on writing in the last three weeks, between Eastercon, friends visiting and the ongoing job-hunt. But this morning I finished doing the first round of revisions on the Lord and Master sequel in light of the beta-reader comments. The revised version is now available for them to tear apart, so on to the next bit of writing while I wait for any feedback they may have...

Couple of folk on my flist have mentioned International Pixel-stained Technopeasant Wretch Day (23rd April), and how much they'd like to do it again this year:

[livejournal.com profile] barbarienne is encouraging people to submit to web markets, to show "you can float your stories online AND still get paid for them".

[livejournal.com profile] seawasp will be posting a little something.

I intend to take part as well, although I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I've got a L&M short in mind that I always intended to write and post as a promo piece, but I need to get permission from my publisher first (which I expect to be a formality), and I have a specific reason for posting it in May, so I'll need something else if I'm to post on the day itself.

Must remember to get a couple of these the next time I'm at Ikea:

(Yes, I was doing some costume research for a Fragments-inspired fic. Apparently Torchwood reaches the fanfic-writing parts that other shows cannot. If I've got as far as doing actual research, it's probably time to think about where I post the thing when it's done, because clearly it is going to get written.)

Okay, wrote out the bare bones outline for this Fragments fic this evening. I now have a file where I can drop in odd fragments of dialogue etc as they occur to me (which they were doing while I was busy doing the dishes this afternoon, for some reason). This means that the random snippets will now completely dry up, going on past form. I'm still not entirely convinced that fic will happen, because much though Torchwood pushes buttons for me, I'm finding that I have this horrible lurking fear of being Jossed. I only ever worked in one fandom last time round, and that one was safely dead at the time, so I *knew* that canon wasn't going to up and AU my story before I'd finished it. I also need to go and find out what a few bits of existing canon are, since I've not yet seen some of the first season episodes.
