Worldcon

I've still got to confirm travel plans, but it now looks extremely likely that I'll be going to Worldcon. :-)

I'm going over to the UK for other reasons, but it happens to be at the right time to make it possible to go to Worldcon. I'll probably be around for 5-6 weeks total. I'll miss the possible rasfc meet in London immediately after Worldcon, but will be staying with a fannish friend in the Bournemouth area mid-August. Ipswich, Manchester and Lancaster are other likely ports of call, and conceivably Edinburgh.

Check recent thread in rasfc "it's a-getting closer..." - Alma was suggesting a meet in London in the couple of days after Worldcon. Not confirmed yet.

We're really going to have to sort out some system for tracking everyone down at the con, even if this one's likely to be smaller than last year's.

A nice rasfc teeshirt wouldn't go amiss. Some of the unusual word coinages belong on a teeshirt: unfodump, for example.

unfodump may have been a typo originally, but I have a feeling that it's going to stick around...

I want to get a Making Light teeshirt, but I'm not sure what the Cafepress cheapest delivery is like for slowness.

Traditionally there's the voodoo board, though I've never got much use out of it. And of course in this electronic age there's mobile phones.

Voodoo board didn't do much for us last year. Those of us who managed to meet up did so largely by hanging around in each others' panels, and pouncing on people afterwards. autopope is the obvious target for that this year, since he seems to have several panels a day. :-)

The mobile phones require people to have mobile phones that work locally. Which won't be a problem for me, since I've still got my old UK phone for use on trips home, and can just buy it a new SIM if the old one's expired. :-)

and yeah, there's a post-con get-together - or there will be if I'm lucky and enough people are able to make it to the same place at the same time. Looks like it's August 9, sometime in the afternoon or early evening, currently...
