3400 words yesterday, 2100 today.

Harvested the frist Green Zebra and Dwarf Patio tomatos today. Report under the cut tag.

Green Zebra
49 mm, 54 g, gold with emerald stripes, yellow-green flesh, obvious scent though less tomatoey than patio dwarf. Sweet, mild flavour, not quite the traditional tomato flavour, very nice. Soft inside, but picked at a late stage of ripeness, when it came away reasonably freely from the stalk. Salad, sandwiches, as a fruit.

Fried with bacon and mushrooms - strong, very sweet flavour, goes mushy. Could probably barbecue whole but not as slices.

Patio Dwarf
Quite variable in size 56x49x42 mm, 69g, red skin, red flesh, strong scent. Somewhat acid, good flavour. Soft inside, but picked at a late stage of ripeness, when it came away reasonably freely from the stalk. Salad, sandwiches (especially where sharpness is wanted). Fruit if you like acid.

Fried with bacon and mushrooms - strong, mildly acid, traditional tomato flavour. Hold shape reassonably well. Probably nice barbecue tomato, especially whole

Red Grape
Variable in size, 2-6g. Good flavour, noticeably different to the other two. Mild sweetness, mild acidity, balance varies from fruit to fruit. Salad, fruit -- too smal to slice easily for sandwiches.

Fried whole with bacon and mushrooms - strong flavour, slightly acid. Mushy inside, but holds up well. Probably good barbecued on a pan to stop it falling through the grill.

Photos to be uploaded when I'm awake enough to work the camera connection...
