predatrix has the entire run of Torchwood on her digital recorder, just for me. Finally watched the opening episode. So now I know why there were all those wet knickers across LJ when Captain Jack appeared...

Torchwood is a spinoff from the new Dr Who series. Captain Jack Harkness first appeared in Who, but is now working for the Torchwood Institute on Earth, defending the planet against Out There. He's actually from the 50th century, and not so much bisexual as flirts with anything and everything regardless of species never mind gender.

He's also very, very pretty.

And I missed the first series of Who on account of being geographically challenged, so I've been having to listen to the drooling from British and Australian friends for the last two years while trying to avoid spoilers.

And I still have not seen the final epsiode, so I do not know the actual context of this delicious m/m snog posted by Erastes last month:

Thank 'ee kindly. I suspect I'm going to skip a few episodes in the middle and go straight for the last couple, to avoid getting spoiled. Because it is clear that there is squee, and sooner or later someone on my flist will forget about cut-tags.

Not a bad plan. Some of the episodes in the middle were pretty dire.

Make sure you skip the right ones, so to speak. Sone of the middle ones are very good and have important bits of character development.

Do NOT miss the one about fairies.
