I'm a bit nervous about this one because it's my first contemporary. So I'm doing the "will people still like it even though it's different to my usual?" nail-biting this morning.

I like seeing an author I enjoy reading branch out into something different. I just finished it and I think you did a wonderful job of it. It's definitely a story I'll be reading again.
