Baycon and BU reading
May. 23rd, 2007 02:00 pmIf you're in the San Francisco Bay area -- Baycon is this weekend, and I will be doing a reading at the Broad Universe RapidFire Reading at 10 am on Saturday morning. In fact, after the plague of "can't get to the con!" last week, it appears that I *am* the BU Reading. :-( Hence the begging for an audience... Also, any preferences on what I read (keeping in mind that it has to be reasonably clean)?
Word of warning to the habituated -- the San Jose Doubletree doesn't like the con any more, so this year it's moved to one of the SFO airport hotels.

Date: 2007-05-24 12:50 am (UTC)This is a con where the BDSM people wander around open areas in their BDSM gear in the evening and complain about having their panel put on at 10 am on Sunday morning, but we are also supposed to be considerate of other people. Something that was not actually advertised as adults-only should not involve reading the excerpt from Mindscan that's on my publisher's website unless I'm on last and tell people that they might like to leave now, and maybe not even then. On the other hand, if it's only me, I can probably get away with more simply because anyone there is likely to be a friend of one of the people supposed to be reading, and I can just say up front that I'm going to have explicit content later and I won't be offended if anyone leaves now or during the reading.

10 AM?
I'll see if I can drag my sorry carcass across the bay at that ungodly hour.

Date: 2007-05-24 12:44 am (UTC)Kelly Green's the organiser, and should have been reading with me, but has had to drop out at short notice along with the only other BU member who wasn't going to Wiscon instead, so it's just me and a stack of filthy ebooks. Mostly science fiction and fantasy, but it could be interesting finding even half an hour's worth of material sufficiently clean for that time of the morning.
If I'm in the car I will have copies of the dead tree edition of The Syndicate, if you have a "comparing notes" interest in seeing what my publisher's doing. I'll trawl through the programme and note likely places for the two different writers' groups I'm meeting up with to be congregating, in case you do get to the con but not until after lunch.
