All right, I gave in and got a MySpace profile, which by my preference will have nothing in it except a link to here and to my website.

Now, can someone tell me how to stop it displaying my gender, age, horoscope sign, and sundry other details of great interest to identity thieves?

from "home" select "edit profile" and then make the desired changes. And if I may recommend pimp-my-profile.com is a great place to get free code/art to do your place up special. "Account settings" is good for setting your time zone and notification preferences.'

I am in need of laying down. If you need help tag me later myspace.com/melissaglisan

I emailed them and got a sniffy reply saying "that option is not available", But it is, cos one of mr friends has done it. You can't just do it via edit profile because that bit of the hmtl isn't up for grabs. My friend says she did it by inserting a bit of code which basically put in a table and hid the contents. But she said she had to fiddle about for ages to find where to put it, and so far I can't. The cde is below but it strikes me the other option is to look for customisation versions of myspace online, of which there are several. What she gave me was this - insert angled brackets for (), obviously:
"I read a myspace tutorial and it said to paste this

(/td)(/tr)(/table)(/td)(/tr)(/table)(/td)(td)(div class="hidethem)(table)(tr)(td)(table)(tr)(td)

in the interest section of your profile."

That's a curious bit of html because it's essentially the closure of one table and the opening of another. Maybe if you print out your profile's html using View Source, it'll become obvious where it should go. Long bloody printout though.

And her profile is Barrie - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=146830330&MyToken=afa675f2-1cd7-44e0-a5e8-ba479dcc3e2f

I must say, if I ever find out how to alter that, I would also like to get rid of the ugly word "blurbs". The trouble with myspace is, it's designed for 17-year-olds.

Or we could use View Source on Barrie's profile and see where she put it... can't believe I only just thought of that! She doesn't do html, so she doesn't really know how she did it.
