Started clearing out the Westercon detritus from my con bag, and found the business card from the person who makes handcrafted pens in woods and fancy plastics. These are utterly gorgeous, and I have enough pen fetishists on my flist that I thought I should get her catalogue URL. Of course, I may not be thanked for providing a new way to spend money on something people don't really *need*, but want. :-)

Yes, I thought I'd get a few bites with that bait...

These are made by one of the Bay Area sf fans. She hauled out one of her pens to write down some information after a panel at Westercon, and of course then got to hand out half a dozen business cards to the people who were drooling. She understands her market. :-) I was able to resist, because I know full well I wouldn't actually use it, but they are gorgeous.

It is rather too bad that I hate writing with ballpoint pens. I love the liquid ink of the type that comes in the uni-ball "micro" pens and similar types. AFAIK it is not possible to get such inks in pens that are intended to be refilled.

I'm very fond of rollerballs, which is what she uses in the wood pens. (Fountain pens are nice as well, but not practical as a handbag pen, which is what I mostly use pens for nowadays.)
