RIP Verity Lambert 1935-2007

Verity Lambert, the first producer of Doctor Who, the first female TV producer at the BBC, and one of the great producers of British television, has died at the age of 71. :-(

I take it you realise today is the exact anniversary of the first Dr Who broadcast in 1963.

altariel noted that, but it appears fromt eh Stage report that Verity Lambert died yesterday rather than today.

Well JFK was, of course, shot the day before the first broadcast and C S Lewis and Aldous Huxley also died on that 22nd.
