I wrote a page or so today on the "no, we are not joining the Mile High Club even if it *is* your 30th birthday" L&M short, and will probably end up deleting it. Mostly because I can't decide whether it's more plausible for Steven to just go for first class to begin with, or to book business class on the assumption that he gets upgraded half the time and first isn't sufficiently better to warrant paying twice the price. Plus thinking that the setup page will probably give people the wrong idea about where the story's going. So possibly a net word count of zero for the day. On the other hand, at least I wrote 500 words or so, after a month or so of nothing.

Sometimes writing 500 words or so that I don't end up using in the long run is what it takes to get the creative juices flowing again after a dry spell. I hope this is kickstarts things for you.

*nods* 300 words a day sounds like a nice goal. I had set a personal one of 500 per day at the beginning of the year, but it's not panned out.

I've tried my hand at fanfic only a few times, and I find that I can only write when using a celebrity and not a character from a TV show. For whatever reason, I need to create new characters or else do complete overhauls on existing ones. *g* I'm strange that way, I guess.

On the plausibilty scale btw...100% plausable to book business and expect an upgrade. One of my long time, long term clients was a VP for a bank. He logged so many damn flight miles a month criss-crossing the country that he was automatically upgraded to first almost every time he showed up at the airport. Once in a great while it didn't happen because 1st class was booked. But that was rare.

Maybe you use as the decider what Steven's got planned at the other end of the trip. If it's a business meeting first thing, then he might pay for first class as a form of insurance. If it's pleasure or something that's not time-sensitive, maybe he takes a chance on the business class.

There could also be some thinking along the lines of "I haven't had an episode in a while, so I'm due and this just might trigger it." I don't know. That's how I'd approach it.
