...and I have no material with which to be a webscab.
For those tuning in late, a couple of years back a certain science fiction writer made the mistake of going on a rant about people posting their words for free on the intertubes. And was roundly mocked, even unto the creation of International Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Day, on Shakespeare's birthday.
The third annual day is this week, and I'd really like to post something. The trouble is that I've done almost no fiction writing since last year's Day. It doesn't *have* to be fiction, and I could equally well post a couple of book reviews I've been meaning to write.
Alternatively, I could dig out one of the short stories I've got sitting around from my pre-epub days. I do have a few that I sent off to print anthologies without greater success than first cut, which I've never bothered to do something with since I started concentrating on novella/novel length work. The original plan was to use them as seeds for longer work, as most of them would do nicely as the first chapter of something longer. But I think there's at least one of them where I'm no longer that interested in expanding it (not least because it's first person and I have learnt the hard way that the romance market mostly doesn't want to read first person). I shall have to think about this over the next day or so.
