It's forty years tonight since Blake's 7 fans got an early Christmas present...

I and many of my friends can remember *exactly* what we were doing in the early evening 40 years ago today. :-) Thank you, Chris Boucher, for one of the most memorable pieces of television ever shown in the UK.

It's hard to believe it was that long ago, the memory is so vivid (and I was so upset!!)

I got to see it on first release twice... We were back in the UK to see family for Christmas, so I got to see the end of fourth season from Orbit (possibly Gold) onwards, and because this was back in the days when the ABC got BBC stuff some months later, I then got to see the whole series on first release in Australia, knowing what was going to happen. Orbit was quite a shock - I remember wondering what on Earth had happened to Avon to make him quite as crazy as he was by then.
