I have a paid account on both Dreamwidth and LiveJournal, but I've never used the poll facility on DW, and wanted to see how it interacts with the cross-posting facility. The answer seems to be that it cross-posts with a link to the poll on DW, using the poll title as the link text, and also cross-posts any text that's not part of the poll. Which does avoid split answers and is a sensible way to do it (quite apart from any coding issues for cross-posting), but means that anyone who doesn't want to post at DW isn't going to take part. And the code generated can't be cut-n-pasted in LJ -- you have to re-enter the questions into LJ's poll generator if you want to have a poll rather than just show people what the question/answer set is.

I admit, I do not go to DW if I can avoid it (and I almost always can) as I dislike the atmosphere there, so...

No polls for me, I guess.

I'm a bit surprised that the code can't be copied and pasted. All the LJ poll generator does is generate the necessary LJ-specific tags, which you can as easily type in yourself, if you know the syntax (I often do this if creating a poll in Semagic). Is the problem that DW polls use different tags/syntax?
