I have a paid account on both Dreamwidth and LiveJournal, but I've never used the poll facility on DW, and wanted to see how it interacts with the cross-posting facility. The answer seems to be that it cross-posts with a link to the poll on DW, using the poll title as the link text, and also cross-posts any text that's not part of the poll. Which does avoid split answers and is a sensible way to do it (quite apart from any coding issues for cross-posting), but means that anyone who doesn't want to post at DW isn't going to take part. And the code generated can't be cut-n-pasted in LJ -- you have to re-enter the questions into LJ's poll generator if you want to have a poll rather than just show people what the question/answer set is.

And for those of you who don't want to follow the link to Dreamwidth...

This is, of course, a deeply evil poll where Stevie's concerned, because she's been waiting for me to tell her whether to put the Inspector Singh book on order at the library. :->

So much for 300 words a day this week. On *anything* other than the things I write in the day job, which believe me, you do not want to have an opportunity to read. I can't even count book reviews or general blog posts, because there weren't any of those either, other than the one I'd rather not have had to write. However, I am for once, at home, with both some free time and enough sleep last night. Should I write:
