The sales rank for The Syndicate is back on Amazon UK this evening:

Amazon.co.uk Sales Rank: 118,293 in Books (See Bestsellers in Books)

Popular in this category:
#41 in Books > Fiction > Gay & Lesbian > Erotica > Gay

And on Amazon US as well, though with the pathetic sales rank you'd expect of a small press book that's been out of print for nearly a year now.

Well, apparently it was caused by some hacking moron. Whether the one CLAIMING responsibility actually did it I don't know, but the method described sounds all too likely.

If it's the one I think you're talking about, that got debunked rather quickly. It's looking much more like a genuine internal-to-Amazon screw-up, albeit with the possibility that some individual within Amazon deliberately exploited an accident waiting to happen.

Of course, there still remain the twin questions of why a non-transparent censorship flag in the first place, and how and why some eejit equated "LGBT interest" and "porn".

It's almost as though they're putting the rankings back by hand. Ranks are appearing here and there with odd gaps that get filled in later.
But most of them seem to be back with exceptions for not-yet-even-nearly-published and probably-never-even-sold-one-copy books. Do market place sales get included in the raks? If nothing else it'll mean people look more carefully fior a while.

Someone actually bought a Marketplace copy on the UK site yesterday, which is why it has the ranking it does there right now.
