And in the excitement of Eastercon, I missed checking on whether this year's Mammoth anthology credit is available for purchase. It appears that the UK edition of The Mammoth Book of Urban Erotic Confessions was released on 17 April, so you can find my m/m/m true confessions story on the shelves (or at Amazon UK) right now. Since it's a true confessions story, it's under a pen name. :-> I'm not actually sure what the etiquette is for this sort of thing, as it's the first time I've had a story in a market for what purport to be true stories. The US edition is due out next month.

I've read a handful of the stories in my trib copy. So far they've been well written, although not all to my taste. One of the reasons they're not all to my taste is that there's quite a variety, so plenty of kinks are catered for. Who knows, some of them may even be true...

I need to go into Waterstones and see if there are any copies on the shelf in there. In general I don't mind being mostly epublished, but it does give me a warm glow to see treeware in a bookshop. Mostly I have to content myself with admiring my friends' books, but occasionally there's a ToC I can call my own.

trib copy!

Got home tonight to find a large and somewhat battered padded envelope in the postbox. I wondered what it was, and then realised that it was the size and shape of two Mammoth anthologies. :-) And indeed, it was from Constable & Robinson, with one copy each of the UK and US editions of Urban Erotic Confessions. According to the cover, "over 50 real-life tales of sex in the city". A hefty paperback available soon from all good book retailers, also in ebook format for the shy amongst you.

That's three Mammoth ToCs for me now. I have a soft spot for this imprint, across its genres, so it pleases me to have that many dead tree anthology credits courtesy of the imprint.

Email waiting for me when I got home this evening, formally confirming that Ye Ed wants my submission for the Mammoth Book of Urban Confessions. At 1p/word advance plus trib copy it's not a huge amount of money, but it's not peanuts either, and I have a soft spot for the various Mammoth series. So this makes me very happy. :-)

Barbara also mentioned expecting to have another anthology call soon, so I need to start thinking of some short story ideas.

... but alas, my trib copy of The Mammoth Book of Quick and Dirty Erotica has been mangled by a minion of Royal Mail, who shoved it into my letter box without regard as to whether it could actually fit through without tearing the envelope and contents. I may have to write a letter of complaint tomorrow. And yes, I will be only too pleased to display the damaged item if need be.

Anyway, my contribution, "A Sparrow Flies Through", amounts to 4 pages out of 554. But there are 119 other stories for your entertainment contained within this volume, so if you wish to make a lot of authors and their editor and publisher very happy, you can pre-order it now at Amazon UK, Amazon US, and other fine book emporia. Official release date is 18 April, at least in the UK (US Amazon is showing a June date).
